MKOMBOZI BANK MOVES TO SUPPORT ORPHANS IN NEW PROGRAMME
Speaking during a short ceremony at Bethsaida Secondary school located some 20 km in the outskirts of Dar es salaam yesterday, the Managing Director of Mkombozi Bank, Mrs Edwina Lupembe said the bank is always looking to be savior especially to the less fortunate by ensuring that they have a chance to grow and develop in education.
“These girls have led very challenging lives and as part of our corporate responsibility we are supposed to lend a helping hand where possible. We saw that this is one of the ways to give back to the community that supports our activities,” Mrs Lupembe said.
She said that “We are very happy to learn that Bethsaida secondary school for girls is doing well in terms of providing quality education to orphaned students who will eventually be leaders of our community. We also hope our contribution to sponsor 1 girl in each class from form one to three will spur a sense of competition within the girls themselves”.
“Education is the key to life and as a commercial bank and as investor in this vital sector, we are responsible to the community at large to contribute towards educating capable students,” she added.
On his part, Mr Francis Mkamati, who is the Manager of the secondary school, applauded Mkombozi Bank’s contribution saying it will go a long way in increasing competition for better grades among his 127 students.
He however made a plea to other well wishers to follow the example of Mkombozi Bank since the school still lacks enough funds to run basic school operations.
